Summary Explanation/Background:
The City of Pompano Beach values diversity and welcomes input from all interested parties, regardless of cultural identity, background or income level. Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, is the overarching civil rights law which prohibits discrimination based on race, color, or national origin, in any program, service or activity that receives federal assistance. By approving and accepting the Title VI Plan, the City of Pompano Beach assures that "no person shall on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, family or religious status, as provided by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Civil Rights Restoration Act of 1987 and the Florida Civil Rights Act of 1992 be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be otherwise subjected to discrimination or retaliation under any program or activity."
The City Commission adopted the initial Title VI Plan on September 9, 2014.
