The City was awarded $66,942 2021 and $67,742 2022 under Edward Byrne Justice Assistance Grant (JAG). In order to secure this funding a memorandum of understanding needs to be executed with Broward County.
Origin of request for this action: Broward County
Fiscal impact and source of funding: : FY2021 $66,942, Grant Funds will be used by the Homeless Outreach Team (HOT) to provide direct outreach services to the homeless in order to reduce the prevalence and duration of homelessness in Pompano Beach. The HOT deputies will direct people experiencing homelessness towards services. FY2022 $67,742, Grant Funds will be used to launch the Pompano Beach Gun initiative to reduce gun related crimes in Pompano Beach and to educate the community on gun violence and gun safety through community events.
