summary

Summary Explanation/Background:

On April 26, 2016, the City Commission approved Resolution 2016-76, which authorized the submittal of an application to the Florida Department of Agriculture 2016 Urban and Community Forestry Grant in order to conduct Phase II of a City-wide Tree Inventory. The Resolution also authorized a match in the amount of $20,000. As noted in the grant application, the City’s Public Works Department and the Urban Forestry Division will use the funding for Phase II of a DOA grant that was previously received in 2015 for the Phase I Tree Inventory. Phase II focuses on parks and facilities recognized as priorities in the Phase I Tree Inventory, with Sand and Spurs Park as a primary area. The Phase II grant was approved by the State for $16,000.

As a requirement of the grant, the City must sign and return a Federal Financial Assistance Sub-recipient Agreement, which outlines both parties’ responsibilities and is a binding document.

Origin of request for this action: Development Services/ Public Works

Fiscal impact and source of funding: Grant funding is for $16,000 and has been approved for a 50/50 match provided through the City’s Tree Canopy Fund #112. Please note that the original application and Resolution 2016-76 was in the amount of $20,000, but since the City only received $16,000, the City will be providing a match in the amount of $16,000.
