Summary Explanation/Background:
The resolution is designating the walking trail currently located adjacent to the east side of NW 3rd Avenue beginning at NW 20th Street on the south side and continuing north to about NW 20th Court as The Irving Family Memorial Trail. As outlined in Resolution 2020-220, Debra Irving LeSane submitted an application to the City requesting the walking trail be named after the Irving Family as the family has a long lineage in the City of Pompano Beach dating back to 1928 when English Irving and Bessie Irving along with their four children made their home in Pompano Beach Florida. The Historic Preservation Committee and Historical Society have provided their recommendation to staff regarding their approval to name the walking trail the Irving Family Memorial Trail. In approving this resolution, naming the walking trail the Irving Family Memorial Trail the City Commission will be giving recognition to the contributions and public service made by the Irving family.
