Summary Explanation/Background:

The following Miscellaneous Appropriations Agreement with Women In Distress of Broward County, Inc. will be in effect during fiscal year 2017 to provide financial and programmatic accountability for expenditure of City funds.  The Agreement is for a period of one (1) year and the funding level of $3,000 was approved on September 19, 2016 with adoption of the FY 2017 budget.

 

The Women In Distress of Broward County, Inc. is the only nationally accredited, state-certified, full-service domestic violence center serving Broward County.  The center provides 24-hour crisis intervention, emergency shelter, therapy, advocacy, counseling and support services to families affected by domestic violence, at no cost.  In addition, they continually offer education and professional training aimed at educating the community on domestic violence.  Funds will be used to provide safe shelter and provide outreach services to 336 Pompano Beach residents.
