Summary Explanation/Background:
Staff is seeking City Commission approval of an Ordinance to enter into a Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) contract with The Whiting-Turner Contracting, Co. (WT) to assist with proposed improvements on MLK Boulevard from NW 6th Avenue to I-95 (see Location Map). This is one of the approved General Obligation (G.O.) Bond projects. WT is expected to provide pre-construction services (to be awarded at a later date). During pre-construction, WT will work with the City’s design team in the preparation of construction plans; assist with value engineering to meet our budget for this project; secure bids from qualified contractors for various project activities; and help prepare a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) proposal for City Commission approval. The GMP will be presented to the City Commission at a later date as well.
