Summary Explanation/Background:
The Fire Assessment Program provides a dedicated source of funding for fire operations. Fees paid to the City under this program cannot be used for any other purpose. The costs covered by the fees are apportioned by service demand (calls) placed on fire operations by residential, commercial, industrial/warehouse, and institutional properties.

The preliminary Fire Assessment Fees for Fiscal Year 2026 were adopted by the City Commission on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 (via Resolution 2025-195).

This is the final adoption of the Fire Assessment Resolution for Fiscal Year 2026 and requires City Commission approval as part of the annual process of adopting the Fire Assessment Fees for Fiscal Year 2026.

The City is required to certify these rates to the Broward County Tax Collector no later than midnight on September 15, 2025.

For FY 2026, the fire assessment fee for residential units will increase by $30, when compared to the FY 2025 adopted rate. The non-residential fees will increase by the same percentage as the residential fee.
