summary

Summary Explanation/Background:

This Resolution accepts the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee’s (AHAC) recommendations following its review of the City’s Local Housing Assistance Plan (LHAP) Incentive Strategies previously adopted by the City Commission. These incentives must be reviewed annually so that deletions, additions or revisions can be incorporated into the LHAP and provided to the State.

The purpose of the State’s SHIP program is to provide funds to Local Governments and incentivize the creation of local housing partnerships, to expand production of and preserve affordable housing, to further the housing element of the Local Government comprehensive plan specific to affordable housing and to increase housing-related employment.

With this purpose in mind, the City of Pompano Beach’s Affordable Housing Advisory Committee worked to create incentive recommendations that enhance the City’s current affordable housing initiatives. The City’s incentives as reflected in its most recent LHAP were reviewed and discussed. There were no recommendations made by the AHAC Committee in FY 2023 to the current incentives.
