summary

Summary Explanation/Background:

The City currently provides eligible employees with employee health benefits through a fully funded health plan with Florida Blue. The City has negotiated a Service Contract with AETNA Life Insurance Company to replace Florida Blue. Under the agreement, the city continues as an employer-sponsored health plan in which the city will pay a fixed premium to Aetna, which, in turn, administers the plan, provides the health care network, customer service, and pays the health care claims, along with other wellness and health plan administration functions.

Approval of this ordinance authorizes the execution of the Service Contract between the City of Pompano Beach and AETNA Life Insurance Company, ensuring the continued delivery of comprehensive health benefits services to City employees and their eligible dependents in accordance with the terms and conditions of the agreement.
