Summary Explanation/Background:
In August of 2020, RFP 29-20 was issued for this micro-transit service. After the competitive bid process was complete, Circuit Transit Inc. was determined by the Selection Evaluation Committee to be the highest-ranking submission. On December 8th, 2020 the City Commission directed staff to begin negotiations with Circuit Transit Inc.
Circuit Transit Inc. will provide year-round point to point transportation services to City of Pompano Beach residents, visitors and employees utilizing a total of 4 electric Neighborhood Electric Vehicles (electric golf carts) over a 3-year period. Circuit Transit has ten years of experience providing this service to neighboring communities such as Hollywood, Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm Beach and Miami. This service will be instrumental in the ongoing development on the barrier island and is expected to reduce traffic and emissions in the area, as well as serve as an economic stimulus for the City.
In July 2020, the City received a matching grant from the Florida Department of Transportation to assist in the funding of this project. This grant in the amount of $833,000 will offer significant financial support for the implementation of this service, requiring a 50% match from the City.
