summary

Summary Explanation/Background:

This requested amendment to Pompano Beach Code of Ordinance Chapter 70 Section 76.08 (B) (5) is requested to stiffen fines for violation of deliveries made after posted times.  Staff feels this amendment will greatly reduce the issues incurred when large delivery vehicles block the ramp area used by valet and occasionally obstruct safe traffic flow. This issue creates an unsafe environment for pedestrians and vehicles as well as it adds to the considerable traffic backup in front of the restaurants fronting Pompano Beach Boulevard.
The current fine covered by this ordinance is $45 which does not seem to have any impact for these delivery drivers or their companies. Staff feels confident that by stiffening these fines, delivery drivers and their companies will be more mindful of the posted delivery times.
