summary
Summary Explanation/Background:
The proposed Ordinance would adopt the same tow rates as Broward County. Broward County has encouraged cities to adopt the same tow rates so that they are uniform throughout the County and avoid confusion that can arise by having different rates. If approved, the rates will be incorporated into the Tow Agreement the City has with Emerald. Broward County requires towing rates to be reviewed annually prior to October 1st and increased by either the annual percentage change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) or 3 percent, whichever is less. Additionally, per recent changes in State Statute, the City will levy a 25% charge on the tow rate. This charge will be collected and remitted to the City by Emerald.
