summary
Summary Explanation/Background:
Since February, 2021, Circuit Transit Inc. has provided year-round point to point transportation services to City of Pompano Beach residents, visitors and employees using electric Neighborhood Electric Vehicles (electric golf carts). This service has been instrumental in the ongoing development on the barrier island can continue to help reduce traffic and emissions in the area. Staff and contractor mutually desire to extend the original agreement for one (1) additional one-year period.

The City has been awarded another Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) grant to allow us to expand the service north and south of the Harbor Village shops. An agreement with FDOT has not been received yet and this funding would not be available until July 1, 2024. As such, staff plans to request a future amendment to this agreement to allow for this route extension. We recognize the popularity of the program and will continue to review on-going development throughout the City (Old Town, Isle, Downtown) to determine the best timing for additional expansion into other areas of the City, as well as continue to explore funding mechanisms. This assessment will be part of a planned overall transportation mobility plan for the City, in accordance with the City's Strategic Plan focus area: Community-focused Excellence - Develop mobility / transportation plan to optimize traffic movement through the City by 2025.
