Summary Explanation/Background:
In accordance with Section ? 160.04 POWERS AND DUTIES OF THE COMMITTEE, the Public Art Committee has the power to make recommendations to the City Commission on art, artist selection and artwork location. As part of the Utility Wrap Project, the City is wrapping traffic signal boxes around the city. There will be multiple rounds to this project with the goal to wrap all of the traffic boxes in the City. The first round "aka Round 1" of this project, was approved by Resolution 2016-70 and included 49 traffic signal boxes. Eighteen (18) of those previously approved traffic signal boxes are on state owned property (Federal Hwy/SR 5, A1A/SRA1A, Atlantic Blvd/SR 814, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd./SR 849). For the 18 boxes on these roads, the State of Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) requires the City to enter into a Community Aesthetic Feature Agreement (CAFA).
As part of the approval process, FDOT also requires the City to pass a resolution stating that it approves the project and agrees to fund all costs for the design, installation and maintenance of the project.
