Summary Explanation/Background:
Staff is proposing a new accessory use called “Athletic Court or Field” and is recommending revisions to the existing recreational fencing standards. The intent of the text amendments are to permit athletic courts and fields as an accessory use with reasonable standards that limit the impacts on neighboring properties and abutting right-of-way. The text amendments were unanimously recommended by the P&Z Board at their March 23, 2016 hearing. The first reading of this Ordinance was originally placed on the April 26, 2016 City Commission Agenda and was subsequently tabled for six months. The first reading of this Ordinance was then placed on the October 25, 2016 City Commission agenda and was subsequently tabled until a time certain date of January 24, 2017.On the January 24, 2017 City Commission hearing, the City Commission approved a motion to strike the ordinance. A copy of the minutes for all of the referenced hearings is included in the back-up.
