Summary Explanation/Background:
The I-95 express lane extension project now underway by FDOT forced the removal of trees that were in the way of construction in the interchanges. The City was able to relocate these palm trees to other city properties. Additionally, instead of destroying trees in the way of construction of the new restaurant adjacent to the municipal pier several trees were relocated to other city property. At the City Commission meeting, approval was given to apply for a $20,000 tree inventory grant resulting in the award of a $16,000 matching grant to the City. The full amount of $32,000 must be paid before City is reimbursed the $16,000 share. A Budget Adjustment totaling $100,000 is necessary to cover these expenditures.
