summary

Summary Explanation/Background:

Staff is seeking City Commission approval of an Ordinance to enter into a service agreement with Pompano Beach Water Taxi, Inc. (PBWT). This agreement will allow PBWT to run a water taxi service from Hillsboro Inlet Marina to St. Martin’s Church (within Pompano Beach) and extending service to Bokampers Restaurant in Fort Lauderdale. The latter stop will serve as a connecting point to existing Water Taxi service provided by others. PBWT is seeking City Commission to approve a subsidy starting at $142k in year one and decreasing to $33k in year 5 (total subsidy: $422,635.00). No additional subsidy is requested beyond year 5. Staff has reviewed backup material and recommends approval.
