Summary Explanation/Background:
The Public Works Department received from Waste Management a notice of adjustment of hauling and disposal rates to be effective October 1, 2017. The change is in accordance with our current Waste Management contracts which allows an annual rate adjustment based on the Consumer Price Index (CUURA320SA0) and Producer Price Index (WPUFD413112). The hauling adjustment based on the Indexes is an applied 0.85% increase, with an adjustment to the disposal rate of a $0.68 per ton increase. The impact of the rate adjustment equates to a $0.15 increase in the monthly garbage bill for a single family residence.
