summary

Summary Explanation/Background:

Michael Farrell, M.D., has been the Medical Director of Pompano Beach Fire Rescue EMS for the past 27 years.  As you know, fire rescue has provided emergency paramedic services to the community since 1974.  Florida statutes require that all licensed Advanced Life Support EMS providers must contract with a certified Emergency Specialty Physician to oversee all medical aspects of the system.  In the fire department, we believe that through Dr. Farrell, we have the best medical direction in the state of Florida.  The EMS Division has pursued the City’s RFP process, in which Dr. Farrell has scored as the highest bidder on 11/27/2017.  Therefore the next step is for the RFP to move to a Commission vote.  I believe the vote would pass to let Dr. Farrell continue his medical direction for us.  The City Attorney has approved the new three (3) year Agreement under my review, and also with the acceptance of the Contractor terms by Dr. Farrell.
