The City of Pompano Beach owns the property located at 1549 NW 18th Street, Pompano Beach, FL 33069 also identified as Broward County Property Appraiser (BCPA) folio 4842 27 00 0335. The property is a 21,780 square foot lot (30’ wide by 92’ long), zoned I-1 General Industrial. The southern 16.5 foot portion of the folio contains City of Pompano Beach lift station 101 and is surrounded on all 3 sides by folio 4842 27 00 0331, except southern property line which fronts NW 18th Street.
The adjacent property owner Pompano Equipment Repair Corp. who owns folios 4842 27 00 0331 and 4842 27 00 0330, surrounding lift station 101, has begun the platting process to develop their 4.06 acre property and expressed an interest in purchasing the northern portion of 1549 NW 18th Street owned by the City. Section 253 Article XXV of the Charter of the City of Pompano Beach requires the City Commission adopt a resolution to declare the property as surplus. The property will then be offered for sale to the public, with an invitation for bids, with a notice published in a newspaper of general circulation in the City. The invitation for bids will be posted on the City website on the Real Property page. Sealed bids will be submitted to the City Clerk’s office by the date and time specified in the public notice. Responsive bids will be presented to the Commission as a regular agenda item.
The Utilities Department has confirmed only the southern 36 feet of the property containing lift station 101 is needed to operate and maintain the lift station. The northern 56 feet of the property serves no current or future public purpose. Boundary surveys of the overall site, southern 36 feet to be retained by the City and northern 56 feet to be surplused with legal descriptions for each area are also included as exhibits.
Staff is requesting City Commission declare the property surplus so it can sold in accordance with Section 253 of the City Charter.
