In accordance with Section §160.04  POWERS AND DUTIES OF THE COMMITTEE, the Public Art Committee has the power to make recommendations to the City Commission on art, artist selection and artwork location. The City of Pompano Beach is preparing to complete the Underwater Sculpture Project. This project has been approved by the City Commission through the FY 2018 Public Art Annual Plan, Resolution #2018-52.

A Call to Artists was posted May 8, 2018 with a deadline of July 2, 2018. Ninety-eight (98) artists submitted applications. At the July 19, 2018 PAC Meeting, the Committee recommended approval of Donald Gialanella as the final artist. At the August 16, 2018 PAC meeting, the Committee recommended the approval of the one year on land location for exhibition. The location is the second southern beach entrance on the sand east of the Great Lawn near the ADA walkway. After one year of display on land, the sculpture will be sunk and permanently attached to Lady Luck located in Shipwreck Park.
