Summary Explanation/Background:
Staff is seeking approval of a contract between the City of Pompano Beach (“City”) and West Construction, Inc. (“West”) in the sum of $5,723,368.64 to provide design build services for the G. O. Bond funded project “Fire Station #52” (see Location Map). This project was duly advertised as Bid P-32-18 Construction of Fire Stations 52, 61, 114 and West was selected by a panel a reviewers to provide the aforementioned services for this station. Attached is a copy of the contract documents including the proposed Scope of Work (Exhibit “A”) submitted by the firm and reviewed by staff for accuracy and completeness. Note that since this project’s construction funds will not be available until the City issues the second bond in August/September 2021, Staff is only appropriating design funds, only. The remaining balance will be appropriated on/or about October 1, 2021.
Origin of request for this action: G.O. Bond
Fiscal impact and source of funding: $381,000 from accounts 320-7652-522.65-03 OUTSIDE CONSULTING/DESIGN. The remaining $5,342,368.64 for construction will not be appropriated until the next bond issue scheduled for FY 2021.
