Summary Explanation/Background:
Approval of this Resolution will allow the Lead Artist of the Public Art program entitled Mosaic Team to fabricate and install a floor mosaic located at a City-owned gazebo to be constructed at the northeast corner of West Palm Aire Drive and Oaks Drive as Project 4 of the Mosaics Team program.

The City of Pompano Beach is preparing to complete the fourth mosaic project as part of the Mosaic Team program. This mosaic project will be located in Palm Aire in the soon to be constructed gazebo to be located at the northeast corner of West Palm Aire Drive and Oaks Drive. The mosaic will be a floor piece.

The Artist Agreement and Ordinance #2017-40 were signed and approved by the City Commission on April 25, 2017. The Agreement states that the artist, Sonata Kazimieraitiene, will produce four (4) mosaic projects within two (2) years, the term of which was subsequently extended for an additional year ending April 27, 2020 pursuant to Resolution #2019-152. At its March 21, 2019 meeting, the Public Art Committee (PAC) unanimously recommended approval of the design and location for Project 4. This will be the fourth project associated with the program.

The PAC and staff are recommending approval of this Resolution to allow Sonata Kazimieraitiene to complete Project 4 of the Mosaic Team program.

In accordance with Section ? 160.04 POWERS AND DUTIES OF THE COMMITTEE, the Public Art Committee has the power to make recommendations to the City Commission on art, artist selection and artwork location.
