Summary Explanation/Background:
Approval of this License Agreement will allow the City to place a mosaic mural on the north exterior wall on a building owned by T E P M, Inc. located at 135 NE 1st Ave. This mosaic mural is part of the Mosaic Team program under the Trail of the Honey Bees project.
This program was originally approved under the Public Art Master Plan and Guidelines Resolution # 2016-78. The program has also been approved through the 2016, 2017 and 2018 Public Art Annual Plans Resolution # 2015-440, # 2017-36 and # 2018-52. The Artist Agreement and Ordinance # 2017-40 were signed and approved by the City Commission on April 25, 2017. An amendment to extend the Agreement for a period of one (1) year was approved by the City Commission on April 23, 2019, Resolution # 2019-152. The Agreement states that the lead artist, Sonata Kazimieraitiene, will install a trail of mosaic artworks entitled Trail of the Honey Bees connecting both sides of Dixie Highway in the Innovation District. Exact locations were not selected at that time. At the March 21, 2019 Public Art Committee Meeting, the Committee recommended approval of the exterior wall located at 135 NE 1 Ave. Pompano Beach, FL. 33060. This building is owned by T E P M, Inc.
Staff is recommending approval of this License Agreement to allow a mosaic mural to be placed on the exterior wall located at 135 NE 1st Ave.
