Summary Explanation/Background:
This workshop is intended to discuss previously proposed changes to the City’s Charter which deal with such matters as staggering of election terms, expansion of the length of terms for Commissioners, changing municipal election dates, and potential term limits. The what, how and when as to each of these topics needs to ultimately be determined by the City Commission as a whole so that its decision in this regard can be timely put before a vote of our residents in order to make any such amendments.
Attached as backup for the workshop is a sample Resolution illustrating the potential issues and how they might appear on a Referendum. This is intended solely as an effort to provide a focal point to initiate the discussion of the many issues involved and provide some structure for the conversation.
