summary

Summary Explanation/Background:

The Applicant, James McLaughlin, on behalf of Gateway, LLC. is requesting to abandon a 28-foot wide road reservation easement located parallel to Powerline road north of NW 9th Street.  There is also a concurrent plat application request for this property on this agenda. This abandonment request was unanimously recommended for approval at the February 27, 2019 Planning & Zoning Board hearing with the condition that placement on a City Commission agenda could only happen when all requisite-service provider comments were received, or until 60 days from the date of this recommendation, whichever occurred first. This condition was met by the submittal of the Utility Department service provider letter (attached). The road reservation easement was determined by Broward County not to be necessary for the future expansion of Powerline Road, and therefore the applicant wanted it abandoned to improve the site development as a marble and stone showroom retail use.

Origin of request for this action: James McLaughlin, on behalf of Gateway, LLC.

Fiscal impact and source of funding: N/A
