summary

Summary Explanation/Background:

Approval of this Resolution will commission artist Cynthia Trezona to design, fabricate, and install a mosaic mural on an exterior wall of the building located at 135 NE 1st Ave. owned by T E P M, INC. This mosaic mural is part of the Artists Alley Mosaic Mural project. The License Agreement between the City of Pompano Beach and T E P M, INC. for use of this exterior wall is on the September 10, 2019 City Commission Agenda for approval.

The City of Pompano Beach is preparing to complete this project that has been approved through the Public Art FY19 Annual Plan (Resolution #2019-123). The mosaic mural will be abstract in nature and will continue to beautify the alleyway. The installation location was recommended for approval by the Public Art Committee (PAC) at its April 18, 2019 meeting. At its July 18, 2019 meeting, the PAC voted unanimously to recommend approval of Cynthia Trezona’s proposed design.

The PAC and staff recommend approval of this Resolution.

In accordance with Section § 160.04  POWERS AND DUTIES OF THE COMMITTEE, the Public Art Committee is authorized to make recommendations to the City Commission on art, artist selection and artwork location.
