Summary Explanation/Background:
The City currently provides and bills for water service to approximately 500 customers in the City of Lighthouse Point. These water meters are owned by the City of Pompano Beach and are read remotely with our fixed-base electronic meter reading equipment. Broward County provides wastewater services to these same customers and bills them by manually reading our water meters in order to calculate sewer useage. The City of Pompano Beach is proposing to provide the monthly meter readings to Broward County.
The City will be compensated at a rate of .68 cents per meter, per month, resulting in approximately $4,000 in additional revenue per year. Please refer to Finance Department Memo 17-27 for additional information.
