summary

Summary Explanation/Background:

The City of Pompano Beach was recently awarded a Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (“TIGER”) grant. The grant resulted in $3.5 million towards reconstruction of Phase Ill of the Education Corridor along MLK Boulevard from 1-95 to Powerline Road. As a function of participating in the grant, the City agreed to provide matching funds. The City’s portion is $3.5 million and any funds in excess of the combined $7 million allocated to the streetscape improvements, which may result from design changes/add-ons, etc. FDOT plans to start design efforts in May, 2017. To that effect, a Locally Funded Agreement must be executed and approved by the City to allow FDOT to act on behalf of the City.
