summary

Summary Explanation/Background:

Staff is seeking City Commission approval of a Resolution to award a Change Order to an existing contract with Weekley Asphalt Paving, Inc. (“WAP”) in the sum of $690,901.11 (see Exhibit “A”). This Change Order will allow WAP to provide construction services related to improvements on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard (Hammondville Road) from I-95 to Powerline Road. The additional construction is necessary due to Broward County Traffic Engineering's concerns with traffic circulation issues. County asked the City to re-engineer portions of the intersection of MLK and NW 27 Avenue and parts of the median west of that intersection. In addition, The City wishes to install a traffic signal at the interseciton of MLK and NW 27 Avenue. County has approved the installaiton of necesasary underground equipment. Above ground features cannot be approved for installation until the City provides additional justification. Monies set aside for above ground features will not be spent until County has authorized the City to proceed.
