summary

Summary Explanation/Background:

Harbor Village Island (HVI) Civic Association is proposing to install automatic traffic arms and automatic license plate recognition (LPR) security cameras within City's right-of-way at the NE 27th Ter Bridge.  The Community is in majority favor and will be designing, permitting, installing and maintaining at their cost.

The automatic traffic arms will not present any accessibility issues to the public or first responders.  They will be equipped with battery back in the event of power failure as well as manual override.  The cameras will be configured to communicate real time with Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO) District 11. No City employee will have access to the system.  Only BSO officers and vendor technicians that are CJIS (Criminal Justice Information System) certified will have access.  Excluding ongoing investigations, the data will be stored for one year.

BSO and City IT Department have been in communication with HVI Civic Association and have reviewed the specifications and are in support of this project. A revocable license agreement is required to be entered into between HVI Civic Association and City.
