summary

Summary Explanation/Background:

On July 20, 2015, the City of Pompano Beach and Broward County entered into an Agreement to provide public art relating to the Borward-100 Centennial Celebration. In conjunction with the Centennial Celebration, the County agreed to provide the location for the artwork. The VisualEYES project features a select group of renowned South Florida artists who will create ten murals around the County. This is the Second Amendment to the Agreement to amend the location from the E. Pat Larkins Community Center to the Bailey Contemporary Arts Building (BaCA). The artist presented two mural designs to the Northwest CRA Advisory Commintee in November 2016, and although the Committee did not recommend the mural be located at the E. Pat Larkins Community Center, the majority of the Committee did indicate preference for the selected "Visualize" mural at a different location. The Public Art Committee determined the back exterior wall of the BaCA would be an appropriate location. The area around BaCA is an emerging arts & entertainment district that has seen the introduction of new murals; this will be the third mural in that area.
