Summary Explanation/Background:
The City of Pompano Beach is one of 29 Co-permittees of the National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit for stormwater within Broward County. Permit FLS000016-004 is administered by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. Broward County, as the lead permittee, provides certain technical services for the co-permittees in order to maintain compliance with the permit. These services include the coordination efforts, pursuant to the NPDES Municipal Separate Stormwater System (MS4) regulations, to manage and perform certain technical tasks necessary to determine compliance with the applicable portions of Parts II and V of the NPDES MS4 Permit. The cost to each municipality is based on the population at the time of the 2010 census and the annual projected population served, with the cost to the City of Pompano Beach being approximately $22,000 per year, with a five year total of ($110,741), until the time at which the next permit is issued (exhibit B).
