summary

Summary Explanation/Background:

At the October 10, 2017 City Commission meeting, Resolution 2018-01 was adopted to conduct a Special Municipal Election on March 13, 2018.  The Resolution requires that the Supervisor of Elections of Broward County hold, administer and conduct a Referendum in the manner prescribed by applicable law for General Obligation Bonds issue.  The City Clerk of the City of Pompano Beach and the Supervisor of Elections are directed to take all necessary action to conduct the Referendum in accordance with applicable law, including Sections 100.211, Florida Statutes.

The proposed Agreement authorizes the Broward County Supervisor of Elections to select, hire, assign and train the requisite number of poll-workers for the March 13, 2018 Municipal General Election, and any other ancillary activities as in previous elections. Therefore, staff recommends the adoption of the resolution to enter into an agreement with Dr. Brenda Snipes, Broward County Supervisor of Elections.

Origin of request for this action: City Clerk’s Office

Fiscal impact and source of funding: $234,459 from General Fund working capital reserve funds with the potential for reimbursement from bond proceeds.
