Summary Explanation/Background:
Metropolitan Planning Organization ("MPO") staff informed members of a Complete Streets Initiative working group that they are putting together a scope to develop a concept plan for the entire length of the C-14 Greenway, inclusive of the eastern section located in the City Pompano Beach. The purpose of this effort is to prepare general trail feasibility and implementation action items for (a) remaining unbuilt sections of the Cypress Creek Greenway; (b) identifying enhancements including signage, landscape, and amenities, along existing sections of the Cypress Creek Greenway; (c) improving intersection safety along existing sections of the Cypress Creek Greenway, and (d) improving access to the greenway trailhead at the western end of the Cypress Creek Greenway west of the Sawgrass Expressway/Atlantic Boulevard. MPO staff is currently looking for funding for the concept plan. MPO requested resolutions of support from all partners agreeing to "work with the Broward MPO to identify funding opportunities to implement elements identified in the plan." Upon receiving resolutions from all participating municipalities, MPO staff will proceed to allocate funding to start design by an approved consultant (see Exhibit "A"). Staff recommends approval.
