Summary Explanation/Background:

In accordance with Section § 160.04  POWERS AND DUTIES OF THE COMMITTEE, the Public Art Committee has the power to make recommendations to the City Commission on art, artist selection and artwork location. The City of Pompano Beach is preparing to complete the final artwork installation for the Collier City Artist in Residence Program.

The Artist Agreement and Resolution #2017-294 was signed and approved by the City Commission on July 25, 2017. The Agreement states that the artist in residence, Ya Laford Fine Art, LLC, will produce a final permanent artwork in Collier City at the end of her one year residency. The final artwork, entitled City-Rise, is a mural proposed to be located in the reading section of the Jan Moran Collier City Learning Library, located at 2800 NW 9th Court. At the March 15, 2018 PAC Meeting, the Public Art Committee unanimously recommended approval of the final artwork proposal and location to the City Commission.
