summary

Summary Explanation/Background:

In accordance with Section § 160.04  POWERS AND DUTIES OF THE COMMITTEE, the Public Art Committee has the power to make recommendations to the City Commission on art, artist selection and artwork location. Artist Carrie Bennett worked with the Hola Mundo Camp “Green Team” to create artistic panels representing waves with recycled materials found along the beach. The Public Art Committee was approached by Ms. Bennett, who represented Hola Mundo, to install these artworks temporarily in the City. The PAC has recommended approval of the temporary installation. The donated temporary artwork will be installed for a maximum of four (4) months unless unrepairable damages occur prior. An indemnification clause in the Agreement stating that the City is not to be held responsible for any damages of the artwork while the artwork is installed on City property is included. The artwork will be temporarily installed at the beach restroom pavilion located at 100 Pompano Beach Blvd. The artwork will be installed and de-installed by City staff.
