summary

Summary Explanation/Background:

In accordance with Section § 160.04  POWERS AND DUTIES OF THE COMMITTEE, the Public Art Committee has the power to make recommendations to the City Commission on art, artist selection and artwork location. As part of the Utility Wrap Round 2 Project, the City is wrapping traffic signal boxes around the city. Twenty-nine (29) artists for a total of forty-three (43) designs and traffic box locations were originally approved under Resolution # 2018-91. Twenty-nine (29) of the of the selected and approved traffic signal boxes are on state owned property and the State of Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) requires the City to enter into a Community Aesthetic Feature Agreement (CAFA).

As part of the approval process, FDOT also requires the City to pass a resolution stating that it approves the project and agrees to fund all costs for the design, installation and maintenance of the project.
