summary

Summary Explanation/Background:

In accordance with Section § 160.04  POWERS AND DUTIES OF THE COMMITTEE, the Public Art Committee has the power to make recommendations to the City Commission on art, artist selection and artwork location. The City of Pompano Beach is preparing to complete the third mosaic project as part of the Mosaic Team program. This mosaic project will be located on the Charlotte Burrie Community Center, located at 2669 North Federal Highway.

On April 25, 2017, the City Commission signed Ordinance #2017-40, thereby approving the Artist Agreement for the mosaic program. The Agreement states that the artist, Sonata Kazimieraitiene, will produce four mosaic projects within two years. At the July 19, 2018 PAC Meeting, the Public Art Committee unanimously recommended approval of the design for the Charlotte Burrie Community Center. This will be the third project associated with the mosaic program.
