Summary Explanation/Background:

In accordance with Section § 160.04  POWERS AND DUTIES OF THE COMMITTEE, the Public Art Committee has the power to make recommendations to the City Commission on art, artist selection and artwork location. The City of Pompano Beach is preparing to complete an Oasis/Utilities Sculpture to be located at the Oasis Water Plant at 1799 North Federal Highway, Pompano Beach, 33060. This project was approved as part of the FY 2017 Annual Plan Resolution # 2017-36 and approved again as part of the FY 2018 Annual Plan Resolution # 2018-52.

A Call to Artists was posted March 1, 2018 with a deadline of May 16, 2018. Fifty-one (51) artists submitted applications. On May 29, 2018, the PAC Subcommittee selected three (3) artists to recommend to the Public Art Committee. At the June 21st, 2018 PAC Meeting, the Committee recommended approval of Cecilia Lueza as the final artist.
