Summary Explanation/Background:
Staff is seeking City Commission approval to execute a Construction Agreement (CA) with the Florida Department of Transportation. This agreement will enable the City of Pompano Beach to relocate an existing traffic signal on A1A near NE 2nd Street to the corner of A1A and Pier Street. Relocating the signal is an initiative that was first envisioned during the Land Use Plan Amendment in support of the Pier Fishing Village redevelopment plan and is desirable to control pedestrian and vehicular traffic traversing the intersection going to and from the Pier to the Water Taxi Station on the Intracoastal Waterway. Staff recommends approval.
