summary
Summary Explanation/Background:
This Resolution will set-up a Local Complete Count Committee for the 2020 U.S. Census in the City of Pompano Beach. The City of Pompano Beach has agreed to partner with the U.S. Census Bureau in getting a complete count of all the residents in the City. The U.S. Census Bureau recommends that every City form a Local Complete Count Committee. The duties of the Committee members will be to create awareness among the residents as to the importance of the 2020 Census, publicize the April 1, 2020 Census date, and develop and implement strategies for getting the residents to fill out and return the 2020 Census form. The committee will coordinate its activities with the Broward County Complete Count Committee, U.S. Census representatives and local leaders from churches, schools and neighborhood associations. Approximately one third of the City is considered to be a "hard to enumerate" area. A complete count of all the residents is important to the City for the federal, state, and local revenues sharing state and congressional representation. The Complete Count Committee will fulfill its duties by December 31, 2020.

The official population recorded for the City of Pompano Beach in the 2010 Census was 99,845. The current estimate population of Pompano Beach is 110,473, based on American Community Survey estimate from July 1, 2017.
