summary

Summary Explanation/Background:

The US Army Corps of Engineers has requested through Broward County, a proposed Beach Storm Damage Reduction Consent of Use document to perform the emergency Flood Control and Coastal Emergency (FCCE) project (beach renourishment).  This document allows the Corps to construct the project on twenty-nine (29) properties owned by the City as identified in Exhibit A of the Agreement.  The document is critical to performing work within the northern portion of Segment II, the beach directly south of the Hillsboro Inlet.  Federal funds have been appropriated for the project and no city funds will be required.  The current expected timeline for placement of sand on the beach is after the 2020 turtle nesting season concludes (i.e. November 2020).

Origin of request for this action: Broward County, Environmental Protection and Growth Management Department
