Summary Explanation/Background:
The City Commission adopted Ordinance 2019-80 calling for a Special Municipal Election for March 17, 2020, to amend the City’s Charter. The three (3) referendum questions would call for the modifying of the dates for the municipal general elections, the expansion of the terms of office of the City Commissioners, and the staggering of terms of the City Commissioners.
The Broward County Supervisor of Elections possesses the requisite legal authority, expertise, personnel, and equipment to assist the City in selecting and training poll workers and conducting the City’s municipal election(s). The City desires to delegate to the Supervisor the power, duty, and authority to select and train poll workers and conduct the City’s special municipal election(s) pursuant to the terms, conditions, and provisions of the attached Agreement. Please refer to Article 2, Duties of Supervisor, within the agreement that itemizes the Supervisor services to be provided.
