summary
Summary Explanation/Background:
Approval of this Resolution will allow the recommended lead artist, Sonata Kazimieraitiene, to fabricate and install an outdoor, floor mural north of the Great Lawn, 20-98 N. Pompano Beach Blvd. This project, known as Mosaic Team Term 2, is part of the City of Pompano Beach's Public Art Ten Year Master Plan (Resolution #2016-78) and the Public Art FY2019 Annual Plan (Resolution #2019-123). The actual artwork design has not yet been selected. Once the Public Art Committee recommends a design created by the artist, it will be presented to the City Commission for its consideration and approval.

The Mosaic Team Project was started in 2016. Artist Sonata Kazimieraitiene was recommended by the Public Art Committee and approved by the City Commission as the lead artist for Term 1 through an Agreement under Ordinance #2017-40. This Agreement was extended for an additional one-year term (Resolution #2019-152). Ms. Kazimieraitiene was selected as lead artist for Term 2 under the approved FY2019 Public Art Annual Plan.

As lead artist, Ms. Kazimieraitiene will train and supervise five (5) approved apprentices to teach them the mosaic craft. She and the apprentices will fabricate and install the approved artwork at the project site located to the north of the Great Lawn.

The PAC and staff are recommending approval of this Resolution to allow Sonata Kazimieraitiene to complete Mosaic Team Term 2.
