summary

Summary Explanation/Background:

The purpose of the Fire Assessment Program is to provide a dedicated source of funding for fire operations; the fees paid to the City under this program cannot be used for any other purpose. The costs, covered by the fees, are apportioned by service demand (calls) that are placed on fire operations by residential, commercial, industrial/warehouse, and institutional properties.

For FY 2021, the fire assessment fees remain the same as the adopted FY 2020 rates. Please refer to the attached Rate Summary document for current and proposed rates. The proposed Fire Assessment Fees are anticipated to assess approximately $22.42 million in gross revenues. Projected revenues collected are anticipated to cover approximately 90% of the Fire Department eligible expenditures and fire capital improvement projects. Remaining costs are covered by other fire fees and property taxes.

This is the Final Virtual Public Hearing to Adopt the Annual Rate Resolution: Monday, September 14th, 2020, at 5:15 p.m
