Summary Explanation/Background:
The Broward County Supervisor of Elections Office is requesting to enter into an agreement with the City of Pompano Beach to utilize the E. Pat Larkins Center as their branch office for specified days as indicated in the agreement in Paragraph 3.1. There has always been a long-standing agreement between the City of Pompano Beach and the Supervisor of Elections Office to utilize the E. Pat Larkins Center as a branch office to conduct the drop-off and pickup of ballots and voting equipment, as well as to accommodate operation as an information site to educate and publicize upcoming election activities.
The City Attorney has reviewed the agreement and approved its legal sufficiency. In addition, the Parks and Recreation Programs Administrator has also confirmed that the Center would be available to be utilized as part of the branch’s activities for two days of the week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. to disseminate election information. Staff recommends approval of the item.
