Summary Explanation/Background:
On September 8, 2020, The City Commission approved the Sustainability Strategy, satisfying a high priority Strategic Plan Action Item. The Sustainability Strategy includes an eight-step work plan. Step one was to conduct a greenhouse gas inventory of public facilities, identify our emissions baseline, and establish reduction goals and recommendations. Now we are being rewarded another CPTA Grant from the Department of Economic Opportunity to fund another Phase of the Sustainability Strategy.
This latest grant agreement is to receive a cost reimbursement of up to $45,000, which will be used for consultant fees to develop a comprehensive Sustainability Portfolio of Projects and Implementation Plan to meet our greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets, aimed at producing a return on investment, as well as measurable performance improvements. The outcome will be a collaborative interdepartmental review to produce a list of projects and capital improvements supplemented by recommendations for supportive management, funding, and reporting strategies, including new policies, procedures, or standards.
