Summary Explanation/Background:
Pompano Beach Boulevard between NE 2nd St and NE 3rd St gets highly congested with delivery trucks and valet services and it's forecasted to only get worse with the ongoing, increased development (see attached presentation). We are confident that converting this section to a one-way northbound will alleviate this traffic congestion. Based on traffic volume analysis completed in March of 2021, Broward County Traffic indicated that they have no objection and are in support of this request. In addition, the East CRA Advisory Committee are in support (attached minutes), and Fire Rescue and BSO have also reviewed and indicated no concerns with respect to impact on emergency response times. By converting Pompano Beach Boulevard between NE 2 Street and NE 3 Street to a northbound one-way operation, southbound traffic will be diverted to westbound NE 3 Street and then south onto Seabreeze Way. The traffic study indicated that the majority of the traffic (73%) travels northbound anyway, and southbound traffic has other means of ingress/egress.

Although County supports this conversion, they have requested that City Commission adopt a resolution that approves the one-way conversion since the conversion from two-way to one-way flow can affect access and circulation for residences and businesses.
