Summary Explanation/Background:
The City’s current three (3) year contract with Shotspotter ends on March 16, 2024. The current annual contract costs to the City was $260,000 or $780,000 over 3-year contract term. Shotspotter is proposing a new five (5) year contract at an annual cost of $341,250 or $1,706,250 over the new 5-year contract term. Should the city determine that a three (3) year contract term is preferred, the base year contract amount would still be $341,250, with a 5% escalation for years 2 and 3. This would equate to $1,452,019 over three years.
BSO has made 45 arrests over the past three years equating to $17,333.33 per arrest. Unless the City Commission formally directs me to renew, I am inclined to let our contract with Shotspotter end March 16, 2024.
